Ursuline Bankhead, PhD- Presenter

Psychologist

Dr. Bankhead was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and is a graduate of City Honors School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Penn State University-Behrend College; her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC); and her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Buffalo.
She has worked as a substance abuse counselor, family mediator and psychologist.
Dr. Bankhead has led various programs, trainings, and initiatives to address issues of diversity and inclusion on both local and national levels. Within the Greater Buffalo Community, she has served on the Committee for Special Education for Buffalo Public Schools and is currently serving on the Attorney Grievance Committee for the 8th Judicial District of New York State. 
When not working, she can be found reading books, painting, spending time with friends, and trying to find new places to explore!
She has been married for over 25 years, and is the mother of a college student.

Lisa A. Coppola, Esq. understands her clients’ challenges, whether they’re starting a new business, taking their existing operations in a new direction, or facing a claim. She enjoys working with underdogs, because her compassion and creativity are put to the test.


Lisa has deep experience in business and employment law, including counseling clients on preventative measures and taking cases to verdict. Her law firm offers businesses and individuals fierce yet compassionate legal services.   


Lisa also owns The English Gardener, WNY’s premier garden design and construction company.  She has received numerous regional and statewide awards and serves on several boards.

Betsy Dexter, MD received her Medical Degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1990.  She completed her both her residency in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, In Iowa City, Iowa.  She completed a fellowship in Cardiac Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston MA and in General Thoracic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  She a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.


Doctor Dexter is currently Attending Surgeon, in Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Department of Thoracic Surgery and also serves as Associate Professor of Oncology and Quality Assurance Officer for the Department of Thoracic Surgery.  In addition, she is Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the Jacobs School of Medicine.


Her areas of expertise include benign lung disease such as emphysema, lung cancer, benign esophageal disease such as achalasia, hiatal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux, Zenkers diverticulum, esophageal cancer, mediastinal and chest wall tumors and cysts, mesothelioma, navigational bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, and intrabronchial valve placement.


Her main focus of clinical research is that of improving the quality of perioperative thoracic surgery patient care.  Specific projects include studying risk factors and methods to decrease perioperative morbidity and mortality including patient selection, preoperative optimization (e.g. smoking cessation) and postoperative care pathways (e.g. pain control).  She is also researching how to improve hospital and clinic processes such as optimizing operating room case scheduling.

Danielle Bergman is currently serving as Assistant Director at VA Western New York Healthcare System (VAWNYHS). Prior to this assignment, she has served as Human Resources Manager for VA NYHS. She began her VA career in 2007 at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center as a Human Resources Technical Career Field Intern and then served as a Human Resources Specialist. Following her service at Canandaigua, she worked for VA Health Care Upstate New York - Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 2) in Albany, NY as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist. 


Bergman graduated summa cum laude from St. John Fisher College in 2005, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a certification in Service Leadership, and in 2007 summa cum laude with a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development. She is also a 2016 graduate of the VA Health Care Leadership Development Program.

Katie has over 15 years of broad-ranging experience in public and private sector work in Buffalo, NY, Washington, DC, New York City and Seoul, Korea. She has extensive expertise in developing and implementing targeted communications strategies aimed at reaching internal and external stakeholders, as well as the media. Katie has a proven track record of managing a wide range of successful creative projects and is particularly adept at making strategic recommendations tailored to an organization’s unique needs, goals and objectives. She has a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs from Indiana University Bloomington. Katie currently resides on the boards for the Richardson Center Corporation and the Eric Wood Fund and is a founding board member of Persistence Preparatory Academy, a K-8 charter school located on Buffalo’s East Side. She is a graduate of Leadership Buffalo (2016), a 40 Under 40 honoree (2016) and an ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award Finalist (2018)  and 2019 ATHENA Award winner (2019).

Bridget Niland

Director of Project Play WNY at the Community Foundation

Bridget Niland is the Director of Project Play WNY at the Community Foundation. In her role, she leads an initiative launched by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation to ensure all children in Western New York have the opportunity to be active through sports and build physical literacy. Bridget also oversees the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Fund for Youth Sports at the Community Foundation, which provides grant support to WNY youth sports organizations.
Before joining the foundation, Bridget served as the Director of Athletics at Daemen College where she oversaw the athletic program’s transition from National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II membership. Bridget continues to serve as an Associate Professor within Daemen’s Business Administration and Accounting program teaching courses on Law and Sport Management. Previously, Bridget worked as an Associate Director at the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, an attorney at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and as a confidential law clerk serving the late Honorable John T. Curtin of the Western District of New York.
Bridget received her B.A. in History, Political Science and Legal Studies, Master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy and Law Degree from the University of Buffalo, where she ran Division I cross-country and track and field. Bridget broke several school records and earned individual and team conference championships during her running career, and captained those teams from 1993 through 1995. She is currently a doctoral candidate within UB’s Graduate School of Education. 
During her time as UB student-athlete, Bridget was named to the NCAA National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which she served as Chair from 1995 through 1998.  The NCAA SAAC was an active legislative lobbying body during that time, and led several NCAA rule changes to better the lives of Division I student-athletes. After college, Bridget was a two-time winner of the Buffalo Marathon and named Buffalo News WNY Female Runner of the Year in 1999. 
Bridget is a member of UB’s Athletics Hall of Fame, the WNY Running Hall of Fame and the Williamsville Central School Wall of Honor.  She was named the 2016 Athena Young Professor Award by the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and Buffalo Business First’s 40 Under 40 and Power 100 Women of Buffalo. She serves on the board of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame and is a past board member of the Buffalo Sports Commission, the Miracle League of WNY, Independent Health YMCA, WNY Girls in Sports and Visit Buffalo Niagara Commission. Bridget also volunteers as a youth mentor and softball, track and swim coach.
Bridget resides in Snyder, NY with her husband Brian Gwitt and their children.

Kristen Robillrad, MD

Managing Partner, Lakeshore Primary Care Associates

Kristen Robillard, MD is a board certified family practice physician and the managing partner of Lakeshore Primary Care Associates medical practice in Hamburg, New York. She is the Chair of the Catholic Medical Partners Independent Practice Association Board of Directors, and served as the organization’s Interim President & CEO. Dr. Robillard is a clinical assistant professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo, a member of the Erie County Chapter of the American Medical Association, and an Expert Witness. She served as a surgical assistant for neurosurgery, orthopedics, and general surgery.
Dr. Robillard earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry from Canisius College and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where she also completed her residency. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Outside of her professional commitments, she is a Eucharistic Minister at Nativity of our Lord Church, a tae kwon do black belt, and a past volunteer as team physician for several girls’ hockey teams. She is a proud mother to three daughters, Katie, Michele, and Rachel and resides with her family in Orchard Park, New York.

Sherrie Barr Mack is a Public Affairs Practitioner, Speaker, Financial Literacy Advocate, and Managing Partner for The MackBarr Group. A State University of New York at Albany graduate from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, Mrs. Barr Mack is a 3rd generation business owner. One of the first business principles she learned from her mother Ida Barr is business bravery. In a male dominated business industry Sherrie first watched then assisted her mother in growing a very modest industrial and safety supplies business from their kitchen table to a warehouse. None of this would have been possible without taking a step out on faith and allowing determination to be their guide.
